Virtual Production Technician
The VP Technician is an exciting new role in a cutting-edge virtual studio. Ideal for a recent grad or someone with a couple of years of technology experience in the film industry. The role will include a range of projects, and be located in house, full time, in central London. The successful candidate will have adept video and computer skills, be a fast learner, great communicator, and have a strong interest in virtual production technology.
Role & Responsibilities:
● Maintaining and operating studio equipment & computers day-to-day.
● Run demos of studio equipment for visitors and assist with in-house shoots.
● Troubleshoot a range of technical, video, camera and computer related issues.
● Report up to VP Producer, VP Supervisor and Head of Technology.
● Work with vendors and experts to solve complex issues.
● Keep careful notes and logs of troubleshooting steps and ongoing issues.
Skills & Experience
Required:
● 1-2 years experience in Video/VFX/Broadcast/Film Production.
● Strong computer skills (Windows sys-admin / networking).
● Knowledge of computer parts & PC building
● Knowledge of Cameras & Lenses used for video/filming.
● Experience with editing/colour grading using Resolve/Adobe
● Knowledge of video and image file formats.
● Knowledge of PC Networking (IP Addresses etc).
● Clear communicator, quick learner and team player
● Diligent note taker, keeping detailed logbook and sheets.
● Degree (or degree level experience) in Technology, Media/Video or Film.
Desirable:
● Knowledge of VP systems e.g. camera tracking, 3D software or VR.
● Experience with cameras on a film set e.g. as a camera trainee / AC / DIT.
● Media Server experience (e.g. Disguise), though training will be given.
● Software Programming or Electronic Engineering skills
● Lighting knowledge e.g. Live events or film lighting / DMX.
● Unreal Engine experience or 3D software
● Video Engineering e.g. knowledge of SDI, HDMI & Genlock signals.
● Experience with LED video walls (e.g. live events)
● Clear communication & able to explain technology in lay-person’s terms.
● Experience working in a Post Production company.
